Olia Naprasnikova
Gestalt Psychotherapeutic Counsellor
At any point in life, we may find ourselves stuck in thoughts or in situations in which we suffer. This could be feeling lonely, anxious or depressed, feeling empty or that we are not living our lives to the fullest. It could be feeling the pain from a loss, or a change in life circumstances, or coping with daily stress. Sometimes we need for someone to be there, to hear and see us. This is what I offer - time and space, to be together with you in your difficulty.
I work relationally, which means that I pay attention to what is going on between client and therapist. It can shed light on the nature of the troubles that the client experiences in the wider world. A strong therapeutic relationship built on mutual trust and respect can be fundamental to the healing process in therapy.
Gestalt psychotherapy is a highly flexible, holistic therapy that can be tailored to individual needs. It tends to be less prescriptive and more collaborative. I may be asking questions that will help us both gain more clarity on your difficulties. Or, together we may co-design exercises and experiments to help you try out possible solutions or to see a situation from a different angle. Some of the creative techniques I use that people may find helpful are drawing, metaphor, movement or role playing, as well as paying attention to one's body sensations.
What I can help with:
- Emotional and psychological difficulties, such as: anxiety, depression, burnout, anger, loneliness, self-esteem, trauma, PTSD, phobias;
- Life situations, such as: immigration, life transitions, crises of meaning and identity, loss and grief, relationship difficulties;
- Behaviours, such as: eating problems, obsessive/compulsive behaviours, self-harm.
I offer therapy on a long- and short-term basis with adults and young adults (18 years or older). I speak English, and native Russian and Ukrainian.
